Gareth Bale: Real Madrid forward 'very close' to exit - Zinedine Zidane

The Wales international, 30, was left out of Real's 3-1 pre-season defeat by Bayern Munich in Houston, USA. Speaking after the game, Zidane said: "We hope he leaves soon. It would be best for everyone. We are working on his transfer to a new team. "I have nothing personal against him, but there comes a time where things are done because they must be done." Bale, who has three years left on his Real contract, has won the Champions League four times since his £85m move to Madrid from Tottenham in 2013 - a world record deal at the time. In response to Zidane's comments, Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett told AFP: "Zidane is a disgrace - he shows no respect for a player that has done so much for Real Madrid." Bale has been linked with Premier League sides Manchester United and Tottenham, German champions Bayern and also a move to the Chinese Super League.

Asia Trophy: Wolves beat Man City in bizarre penalty shootout

Four of the first five penalties were saved or missed before keeper Rui Patricio denied City's Lukas Nmecha to give Wolves a 3-2 shootout victory. The game was level at 0-0 following 90 minutes of an intriguing match in which City dominated possession. The England winger had two other decent chances to score - Kevin de Bruyne's wonderful curling cross was inches away from being poked in at the back post by Sterling before the 24-year-old scuffed a shot in the box. Midfielder De Bruyne was excellent in the first half before he was replaced by Ilkay Gundogan, playing exquisite passes to Leroy Sane and Sterling, creating numerous chances for his team-mates.

Didn't want to feel the pain and regret of losing another final: Jos Buttler

he dust has finally settled around the Cricket World Cup 2019 with hosts England deservedly crowned world champions but not before they played out one of the most dramatic cricket matches in the history of the sport. There was nothing to separate England and New Zealand in the summit clash till 102 overs of the game with both teams ending up on the same score twice - in the final and in the Super Over. Eventually it all came down to the number of boundaries hit by both teams which decided the winner as England lifted their maiden 50-over World Cup trophy at the home of cricket, the Lord's cricket ground. Vice-captain Jos Buttler was one of the key protagonists in that epic final in which he scored 59 runs and along with player-of-the-match Ben Stokes, guided his team to the finish line with a 110-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
